What is a Thespian? A Thespian is a student who has participated in 3 or more City High theater productions. Students sign up after each show to be added to our school thespian troop. Why should I apply to be a Thespian? All Thespians at City High are eligible to be a part of the City High Student Drama Board, a select group of students who come together to look over the current state and the future of our department. Applied students are also inducted into the International Thespian Society, the world’s largest honor society for theater students. As a part of this group, you will be invited to attend the Iowa Thespian Festival each year at the University of Northern Iowa where students can apply for scholarships, watch performances from around Iowa, and meet a ton of new people in workshops and events. How will I know if I am accepted as a Thespian? Every year after our final show, the drama department holds a special banquet for all students who have participated in the City High theater program in the past year (acting AND crew). After dinner, a ceremony is conducted but the students of the drama board and theater directer Troy Peters. There we announce this year's Thespian inductees. This year's drama banquet is on Monday, May 14th at 6:00 pm located at Hotel Vetro. Please reserve your spots before May 9th with a $20 fee for dinner (dinner is optional. If you would like to attend just the ceremony, contact Mr.Peters and arrive at 6:40 pm). |
